Members of the Faculty,
I appreciate all of your efforts rebuilding or transferring your Blackboard courses into Canvas for the Fall 2014 term. Now that we’re at mid-semester, I’d like to remind you that our access to Blackboard will be ending in a few short months.
Blackboard Closure Timeline
- October 21 (mid-semester holiday): Students will no longer see the links to Blackboard from the mylasalle portal Tools menu or My Courses channel.
- December 19: Faculty will no longer have access to Blackboard.
- December 20-31: Course content (no student data) will be archived.
- December 31: All access to Blackboard ceases.
If you haven’t started bringing over your spring and summer courses, now would be a good time to do so. I invite you to attend the Instructional Design team’s Migrating Course Content from Blackboard to Canvas workshop on Wednesday, October 15 (Sign up) or Wednesday, November 5 (Sign up ) from 1pm-2pm in Olney 101. If those workshops aren’t at a time that’s convenient for you, please get in touch with any member of the Instructional Design team to schedule a one-on-one appointment. You’re also welcome to check out the ID team’s self-paced resources for migrating content available here: https://lasalle.instructure.com/courses/112/pages/start-fresh-in-canvas-or-import-content-from-blackboard?module_item_id=1728.
You may find it helpful to create a new course to house your course content while you update and change it. To start a new course, log in to Canvas and click on the Start a New Course button located in the sidebar on the right side of the page. You can transfer content from Canvas course to course by following the steps outlined here: http://guides.instructure.com/m/4152/l/239683-how-do-i-copy-a-canvas-course.
