Need to Share a GoToTraining Recording?

Once you finish recording a session in GoToTraining, the recording turns into a file that ends up in your documents folder on your computer. In order for students to see the recording, you need to put the video in a place where students can access it. While it might be tempting to just make the file available for students to download, students may find that the download takes too long or is in a format that they can’t view. A better method for distributing the recording is to post it in a place where students can view the recording without downloading it. Two easy options are GoToTraining’s My Recordings or YouTube. Either method makes the recording viewable on any device your students choose to use.

Using GoToTraining’s My Recordings

If you don’t plan to upload a lot of recordings, or if you plan to host them temporarily, this is a great option. Posting videos here allows you to keep track of who accessed them, as students have to register to view the recording.

To use My Recordings, log in to GoToTraining and then

  1. Click on My Recordings in your menu.
  2. Click on the Upload a Recording button.
  3. Hover over the arrow to access the link to the video.



You can distribute the link in your course through Announcements, or send it to students via email. When students click on the link, they’ll receive a prompt to register and then they will be able to view the video.

Please note that there is a storage space limit in My Recordings.

Using YouTube

If you plan to upload a lot of recordings, then YouTube might be a good option for you. You’ll need a YouTube account to get started.  If you find that your recordings are longer than 15 minutes, you’ll need to increase your video upload limit.

Once you’ve created your account and increased your limit, you’ll need to upload your recording and then share the link with your students.
