Join the ID Team for our fall Lunch n’ Learn sessions! Each session will be a quick opportunity to learn about a new trend, strategy, or idea in education today. Feel free to bring a lunch, or munch on the snacks we provide. We hope to create a comfortable, informal, and inviting space where anyone can drop in and learn something new – no strings attached!
“Designing a University for the New Millennium”
Monday, September 25. 12-1pm. Lawrence 307 Conf. Room
For our first session, we’ll be watching and discussing a TED Talk by David Helfand entitled, “Designing a University for the New Millennium.” Following 35 years on the faculty of Columbia University in New York, more than half of that time as Chair of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, Dr. Helfand developed a deep understanding of the problems of traditional universities. Seizing an opportunity to redesign higher education from scratch, he helped found and preside over the innovative Quest University Canada. Come join us to find out more about Dr. Helfand’s fascinating ideas!
Lecture Capture Studio Launch
Monday, October 2. 12-1 pm. Founders’ Hall, Room 640
Ever wish you had a quiet, private space to create videos for students? We’ve created one in Room 640 of Founders Hall! It’s got everything you need to create great digital videos for students:
- A headset for higher audio quality
- Two monitors, so you can keep notes on one screen and your recording on the other
- Instructions that cover all aspects of the video-making process
- A whiteboard to write notes, create diagrams, or other visualizations
- A fancy La Salle backdrop!
Join us as for our opening of the room where we’ll walk you through how to make videos in the studio and be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
Hope to see you at one of these upcoming Lunch n’ Learns! If you can’t make it to these, however, don’t worry – more will be coming this fall. For any questions, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
